Envision Networks® is proud to welcome Media-Com’s WNIR-FM/Akron, OH as the newest affiliate of The John and Leah Show, a LIVE Sunday night talk show offering a look at the week’s news focusing on media, politics, sports and pop culture. With WNIR 100 FM – The Talk of Akron now airing The John and Leah Show every Sunday night at 10 p.m., the station joins over 150 affiliates on the Envision Talk Network.
“It’s good to have a live weekend program, instead of taped replays of programs earlier in the week,” WNIR-FM station manager Bill Klaus said. “We love having a male and female host anchoring our Sunday nights.”
Each week, hosts John Ziegler and Leah Brandon bring you the final word on the week’s events and first thoughts on the week to come. The hosts provide an informative, compelling and entertaining take on the news of the week as well as their own crazy lives. The John and Leah Show is always interesting with unpredictable conversations.
Ziegler has been either in the media, or criticizing it, for a quarter century. His career began in Steubenville, Ohio as a sportscaster and reporter with an NBC affiliate. He made the switch to talk radio as an evening host at WWTN-FM/Nashville and went on to work at a number of other outlets. Eventually he wound up at KFI-AM/Los Angeles, where he and Brandon first worked together. While at KFI he was #54 on the Talkers 100 list and part of breaking several national news stories. After four years at the station, Ziegler opted to leave talk radio to produce documentary films and only recently returned to host his nationally syndicated show.
Brandon started out as a DJ in Roanoke, Va., and then came to Los Angeles where she began her radio voiceover imaging career. She currently resides in Birmingham, Al.

About John Ziegler:
After graduating from Georgetown University in 1989, he pursued his childhood goal of being a television sportscaster. He became a sports anchor/reporter at the NBC affiliate in tiny Steubenville, Ohio and spent an entire year with the Steubenville Big Red high school football team (the same one which would be embroiled in a national “scandal” nearly 20 years later) where he wrote a book about the experience called, “Dynasty at the Crossroads.”
In 1994 he became a sports anchor/reporter at the Fox affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina. Ziegler decided at that point to try general talk radio and soon got a gig as evening host at WWTN-FM in Nashville, Tennessee. Ziegler then returned to his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to do an overnight talk show at WWDB-FM.
After doing some more radio and TV in Philly, Ziegler got a full-time mid-morning show at legendary WHAS-AM in Louisville, Kentucky. There his ratings immediately soared so incredibly high that he would also get a weekly TV show on the NBC affiliate with a liberal co-host who is now Louisville’s congressman.
Ziegler was soon hired in Los Angeles by the same company at KFI-AM (then the number one talk station in the nation) and was quickly promoted to the evening slot.
After four years there, he decided to leave talk radio to produce documentary films.
Ziegler’s first documentary was “Blocking the Path to 9/11” which was the story of how ABC TV censored the premiere mini-series about 9/11 for political purposes.
Ziegler’s second, and most well-known, film was “Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted.” It was the story of how media coverage impacted the 2008 election and it featured a news-making interview with Sarah Palin. Ziegler appeared live on both the Today Show and The View to promote the film.
Ziegler’s third film was called “The Framing of Joe Paterno.” It tells the story of how the media blew the narrative of the so-called “Penn State Scandal.” Ziegler would also do, from prison, the most extensive interview ever done with Jerry Sandusky. He appeared twice on the Today Show to discuss that interview.
John, armed with a boat-load of new-found wisdom (as well as a wife and a baby girl) accumulated since he left talk radio, now looks forward to his weekly program with his old KFI colleague Leah Brandon.
