Oscar Nominated Actor Discusses Favorite Characters and Directing His First Film

(AUGUST 2017) Thirteen-time Emmy nominated actor William H. Macy spoke with affiliates of Envision Networks®’ Guest Services to promote his directorial debut with the new film, The Layover. He has appeared in some of the most memorable films and television shows in the last 30 years including Boogie Nights, Seabiscuit, ER, and Fargo. Macy has earned three Screen Actors Guild Awards, an Oscar nomination and two Emmys and just received his 13th Emmy nomination for his role as Frank Gallagher in this past season of the hit Showtime series Shameless.
In an interview with Hunter and Michaels on WNDD-FM/Orlando, Macy talks about his favorite character that he has played and gives “insider knowledge” on an upcoming film.
“No, it’s like naming your [favorite] children. But I gotta say Frank Gallagher in Shameless. That’s so much fun. I love Dudley in Wild Hogs. Which we might do another one…in January. That’s the plan. We shall see.”

“I think John [Travolta] rode [motorcycles] more than any of us when we started,” Macy told another station when asked who was best on a motorcycle in Wild Hogs. “But that was a couple years ago. Now I’d say it’s probably me. I’m gonna say that.”
Macy also spoke with stations about his directing debut and what it was like working with other actors.
“I would see the [director of photography] come in to move the lights and I’d say, ‘What’s up’ and they’d say, ‘Well she’s out of light so we’re moving it,’” Macy explained. “I’d say ‘No, leave the lights there,’ and I’d go, ‘Stand in the light, what’s the matter with you!’ I don’t think a non-actor can say that to an actor, ya know?”
