Shock and Awe director interviews via Envision Networks® guest booking service
(July 2018) — Actor/director Rob Reiner recently interviewed with affiliate stations of Envision Networks’ Guest Services to talk about his new film Shock and Awe opening Friday, July 13. Shock and Awe is a historical film about four journalists during the Bush administration leading up to the Iraq War.
In addition to talking about the film, Reiner told Brittany and Sparks at KOMP-FM in Vegas about how his wife actually inspired an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. “The thing that I love about Larry [David] is that he really takes from his real life. We’ll be sitting at dinner and, you know he was married at the time and I was with my wife, and after the dinner I picked up the check and Larry says to me ‘Thanks for the meal, Rob,’ and then my wife says ‘Well, what about me? You don’t thank me?’ And he says ‘Well he paid.’ And she said ‘Oh that’s terrible,’ and that became an episode.”

Rob also talked to Bull, Rob, & Kris at WGRF-FM in Buffalo about someone a little more intimidating than Larry David. “Tommy Lee Jones is frightening. He’s frightening beyond belief. First of all he’s a great actor, and he’s also totally professional, but you know, he’s one of those guys where there’s a lull in the conversation, he doesn’t work to fill in the gaps. So there will be one time where we’re sitting there and I don’t know what to say to him so I say, cause I know he has a ranch in Texas, I said ‘So how many head of cattle do you have?’ And there’s a pause and he looks at me and he says ‘Why? You don’t wanna’ know that? What are you gonna’ do with that information?’’ So you know, he’s holding up his end of the bargain of the conversation.”
